Maria Lara, RDA
Maria’s is the friendly voice you hear when you call our office. We are all aware that she’s the “real” boss and wears twice the number of hats as the rest of us. She keeps the schedule on track and the patients and team headed where they’re supposed to be. She’s an expert at making the treatment you deserve affordable by explaining your payment options and working within your budget. When Maria is not here, she enjoys working out, playing volleyball, and watching her two sons play select league baseball.
Anthony Hubnik, RDA
Anthony is Dr. Hubnik’s son. You could say that he grew up in the dental office. He fills many roles here in our practice. He is the lead dental assistant, painter, lifter of all things heavy, maintenance man and jokester. He is gifted at making temporaries, repairing dentures, making whitening trays, and occlusal guards. His laboratory skills are unequaled. Anthony’s other interests include playing guitar, tending his prolific garden, and home improvement with the “help” of his two young sons.
Sonja Owens, RDH
I've shared my dental story with patients, and now I'll share it with the world. Growing up I had a front tooth that didn't come in completely, so it looked broken. I was extremely shy and self-conscious and would cover my mouth when I laughed or smiled. When I was in the 8th grade, I had some cosmetic bonding done. It made my tooth look normal sized. It made such a drastic difference in my appearance and my self-confidence that I decided then that I wanted to work in dentistry some day! At age 17, I started working for Mitchell Walker, DDS, I started in the front office and later worked as a dental assistant. I quit to go to college for my dental hygiene degree and went back to work for him 4 years later. I worked as his dental hygienist for 17 years until he retired! During that time, he did orthodontics on my teeth. He pulled down the tooth that hadn’t completely descended and shaved off the bonding. The tooth turned darker from being moved so far, so we put porcelain veneers on my 2 front teeth. You can see for yourself what a difference it makes in my smile!!! I also learned that there is a strong correlation between oral health and overall physical health. I'm helping people be healthier and more beautiful and self-confident all at the same time!!!
BUT THATS NOT ALL!!! You see, we couldn't afford college. God provided the funding! I had a car that was breaking down constantly. God and my momma provided transportation! I recognized from the beginning that my entire dental experience was a God thing! From my smile to the desire He put in my heart, to every provision, to my employment opportunities, to the love I still have for what I do! I have always considered it a gift! Really, all glory to God!
